Use VA Video Connect Without Cellular Data Charges

The Department of Veteran’s Affairs has partnered with AT&T, SafeLink by TracFone, T-Mobile, and Verizon to help Veterans avoid data charges when using VA Video Connect to meet with their VA providers. If you have an eligible cellular plan, no action is required. The participating mobile networks will automatically recognize when Veterans or their caregivers are using VA  Video Connect.

NOTE: An entity being listed as a participating provider does not mean or imply that VA endorses the entity, its views, or any products or services it may provide.

AT&T

Customers of AT&T with limited and unlimited data plans will not incur data charges while using VA Video Connect on the AT&T mobile network.

Use of VA Video Connect may still result in data charges if the AT&T subscribers are:

  • Roaming: Both domestic and international roaming on the AT&T network will incur data charges.
  • Connecting to VA Video Connect through a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

For questions about your cellular bill, please contact AT&T at 800-331-0500 Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. CT or Saturday and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. CT.

Customers of Verizon with limited data plans will not incur data fees while using VA Video Connect on the Verizon 4G LTE network. For Verizon’s unlimited plans, including all 5G plans, there are no additional data fees to use VA Video Connect; however, VA Video Connect data can count toward a data down-speeding limit depending on a customer’s purchased data plan.

Use of VA Video Connect may still result in data charges if the Verizon subscribers are:

  • Roaming: Both domestic and international roaming on the Verizon Wireless network will incur data charges.
  • Connecting to VA Video Connect through a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

For questions about your cellular bill, please contact Verizon at 800-922-0204 or log into your My Verizon account.
