Anyone can access the App to look up CHAMPVA medical code participation and coverage status, review eligibility requirements, learn how to apply, explore benefits, and view covered conditions for each VFMP program.
What medical codes does the CHAMPVA App accept?
The app accepts American Dental Association (ADA), Current Procedural Technology (CPT), International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (IDC-10), National Drug Code (NDC), and Durable Medical Equipment (HCPCS-DME) codes and returns the reimbursement status.
How do I look up a medical code to see if it is covered by CHAMPVA?
The Code Directory, located within the CHAMPVA program screen, allows users to search for CHAMPVA medical codes and view reimbursement or participation status. Users can enter a code, name, or description into the Search box. Matching codes will display below the search bar along with the code type, number, and description. Selecting a code opens its full coverage details.
Users may also browse all codes for specific code types. To do this:
Clear any text from the Search box.
Open the Code Types dropdown (ADA, CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS-DME, NDC).
Select one or more code types.
Tap the magnifying glass icon to view all matching codes.
What are the different possible statuses for CHAMPVA coverage?
- Yes – This is covered by CHAMPVA.
- Yes with conditions. This is part of CHAMPVA, but there are restrictions. You are advised to contact the CHAMPVA service center for more details. To learn more, call the service center at: 1(800)733-8387.
- No – This is not covered by CHAMPVA.

What do I do if I need additional information or help?

CHAMPVA Help Line Information: If you need help with the VFMP App, dial 1-800-733-8387 to speak with a VA representative. You should never use this app in an emergency. If you encounter an emergency, call your local medical center or dial 911 immediately.
