Genius Bar

When staff members receive their mobile devices, they are invited to attend a voluntary, in-person training session, known as the Genius Bar. During the Genius Bar session, staff members are trained on the main features of the mobile device and its accessories. Materials from the session can be found at http://vamobile.us/groups/genius.

VA eHealth University (VeHU)

Protecting Privacy and Security While Using Apps from the Public App Store: Training is available for all VA staff to provide guidance for protecting privacy and ensuring information security awareness when using VA-furnished mobile devices and personal devices. It focuses on the risks associated with downloading and installing Apps from a public App Store as well as the precautions that should be taken when using these Apps. The course also features information about safeguarding personally identifiable information (PII) and public health information (PHI) in addition to reinforcing VA policies and Rules of Behavior. What’s New with VA Mobile Apps for Providers?: VA has been field-testing Apps with providers at 18 VA Medical Centers across the country as part of the VA Mobile Health Provider Program. These Apps give providers mobile access to VistA, helping them access patient data more readily where and when they need it, respond more quickly to patient concerns, and save time by streamlining their own workflow. In this session, attendees will learn about Apps currently available through the Provider Program and get an overview of what’s next.
