Staff Image Capture

The Staff Image Capture (SIC) app allows U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) clinicians to capture clinical images with a VA-issued iPhone or iPad (Government Furnished Equipment or GFE) and save the images to a Veteran’s Electronic Health Record. The app saves images to VistA Imaging and attaches them to a Progress Note in CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System)/VistA.

NOTE: LAUNCH REQUIREMENTS

  1. Your iPhone or iPad must be connected to the VA network.
  2. You must be able to access CPRS.
    • If needed, work with your Information Resource Management (IRM) or Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) to request the secondary menu OR CPRS GUI CHART.
  3. Ensure that you have a PIV card that is linked to your CPRS/VistA account.
    • If you need assistance, please contact the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at: (866) 651-3180.
  4. Ensure that you have access to Vista Imaging in addition to CPRS.

The application is used by orthotic, prosthetic, and pedorthic clinical providers inside and outside VA to digitally scan shapes such as residual limbs, extremities, existing sockets, impressions of feet, and casts in order to then digitally modify them using CAD and then manufacture an orthosis or prosthesis for the patient. This digital workflow is more efficient than manual workflows and is a modernized, agile system secured against disclosure of PHI/PII.

The existing scanning apps for orthotic and prosthetic clinicians do not interface with the Willow Wood OMEGA desktop software system, a highly powerful CAD/CAM system widely used in the field.

Össur Logic, is the smart app for Össur Bionic prosthesis, the hardware used in clinical care. For prosthetists, it can program the microprocessor limb components manufactured by Össur that VA OPPCS clinicians fit and deliver to Veterans every day. It is the clinician's only way to alter the settings of the knee to change how the knee responds when a Veteran walks faster, slower, or stands still and provides full access to setting up the prosthesis. For users, it offers insight into parameters like battery level and step count as well as access to configurations and the latest instructions for use.

The Stroke Code mobile application (app) is a robust clinical decision support and evaluation tool designed to increase the speed, accuracy, and efficacy of acute stroke care from door to needle.

Stroke Code is a commercial-grade mobile app developed by the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs to facilitate the evaluation and treatment of a patient during an episode of acute stroke care.  The app integrates the latest National Institute of Health (NIH) stroke scale and scoring criterion with current American Heart Association stroke care guidelines. The app also provides real-time decision guidance for alteplase (t-PA) usage and endovascular transfers.

Health care providers can use the app at a patient’s bedside or within telehealth scenarios. Neurologists or any medical staff supporting the attending neurologist can use the app.

During a stroke, almost two million neurons die every minute. Stroke Code is designed to accelerate stroke care during the critical “golden hour” and thereby provide the best opportunity to reduce or even eliminate perceptible brain damage.
